The Housing Accelerator Fund (HAF) is a major federal initiative delivered by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) under Canada’s National Housing Strategy. Launched in 2023 with an initial $4 billion in incentives (plus an additional $400 million through Budget 2024), the Fund encourages municipalities and communities across Canada to cut red tape, update local planning rules, and fast-track housing approvals so that more homes can be built faster. These changes help increase the supply of diverse, affordable, and climate-resilient housing across both large cities and smaller towns — from streamlining building permits to allowing more types of housing in established neighbourhoods.
The Town of Outlook was awarded just shy of $1 million through the Housing Accelerator Fund to support local housing development and help address housing supply challenges in the community. This funding will be used to spur new housing unit construction and reduce barriers to development in Outlook, helping create more homes for residents over the coming years.
